Robotic Heart Bypass Overview: Heart surgeons are now using robots to help them perform heart surgery, including coronary artery bypass operations. In this program, you\\\'ll see how sophisticated robots are allowing heart patients at the University of Maryland Medical Center to have bypass surgery without a big incision, resulting in faster recovery and fewer complications. Part One: Robotic surgery overview How robotic surgery works Surgeon\\\'s view of robotic tool Patient benefits of robotic surgery Robot special features Part Two: Coronary artery disease Angioplasty Bypass surgery Robotic bypass surgery vs. conventional technique Hybrid operation combing bypass and angioplasty Guest: Dr. Johannes Bonatti, a cardiac surgeon at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Bonatti is also a professor of surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. We are doing coronary artery bypass surgeries (CABG) under epidural anaesthesia. Patient remains concious during the surgery. Valve replacements and other open heart procedures are also done routinely without giving general anesthesia. This method avoides post operative ventilation, gives adequate analgesia in post operative period with stable hemodynamics. Our Team Members: Surgeons: Drs Shirish M Dhoble, Kshitij Dubey, Rajesh Kukreja, Sushil Jain. Anaesthesiologists: Drs Gagan Shrivastav, Subodh Chaturvedi. We are at Gokuldas Heart Hospital, Indore, MP, India. Contact +91 731 2519227 ext 785 [More] [Less] |
